How to display the subtitles on the player with Mediatek chip 1389x (very common) or similar chip. The guide is available for the 3 / 4 of DVD / DivX on the market.
1) Enter the file name with only alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores (0 .. 9, A.. Z, a.. Z, '-','_'); NOT use spaces, dots, accented letters , brackets, etc..!
2) Not exceed 40 characters in file names (including extension)
3) The subtitle file must be named as one of the film
4) The extension for the subtitles should be.

5) The naming scheme is as follows:
Titolo.Lingua [Progressive].
Extension
Here's an example:
ReArtu.avi - File with the film
ReArtu.ita1.srt - Subtitles Italian
ReArtu.ita2. srt - Subtitles "Director's Comments"
ReArtu.eng.srt Italian - English subtitles
Note: apart from the title, the rest must be strictly in lowercase. The Failure to comply with this rule still allows the selection of different subtitles, but the language may not be recognized. Personally I think this is a bug that will be removed in future firmware. They are recognized up to a maximum of 5 different subtitles. If there are more, the rest will be ignored.
7) Film and subtitles must be in the same folder
In playback, the subtitles can be called in succession by pressing the subtitle button on the remote. The language is recognized by the reader according to international three-letter identification (ita, eng, deu, esp, ...). The lack of recognition of language can lead to incorrect display non-ASCII characters in subtitles.
In any case, the reproduction of the subtitles on standalone players is far from perfect, though much has already been done. We can reasonably expect that the limits that results from the above rules will gradually disappear.
